Transition to Year 7

As we enter the summer term many parents have asked if I can help prepare their children for secondary school this September. Whether you're looking for tutoring in Maths, Reading, Writing or a mixture of the three I am currently offering 1:1 online sessions throughout the week in both the daytime and evening at special rates. If you are unsure where the areas of development are for your child I can carry out a diagnostic assessment in the first session to inform future tuition. Every session therefore maximises learning with no time wasted going over areas in which your child is already confident. My diagnostic approach is not restricted to students in year six. Should you be interested in tuition for your child in any primary school year please do get in touch. Examples of learning by my students can be found in previous blog entries.

This Week's Learning

This week has seen plenty of fantastic learning from my tutees, all of which are learning with me online through either Skype or Zoom. Sessions are available throughout the week so please contact me to find out more about how I could help your child succeed in these challenging times. Here's this week's selection of learning we're celebrating: In our online group tutorial this week we read chapter 14 of Charlotte's Web together then identified prepositions and what role they play in writing. From this, the students composed their own sentences - challenging themselves to create complex sentences with verbs and conjunctions. J (Y5) is learning how to carry out research on the internet and check the information for accuracy before publishing her own blog entries about rainforest animals. The first of which will be shared on here in the coming weeks. F (Y4) was successful in identifying the relationship between multiplication and division and using this

Online Group Tutorials

In response to the current lockdown, many parents have asked if I am able to provide regular sessions for their children as part of a group tutorial. I am pleased to confirm that I am now able to offer this service through Skype, having trialled it successfully with one of my existing home-educated groups over the past two weeks. Should you be interested in this service please contact me and I will respond with days and times the group sessions are scheduled to take place. Each session can either focus on Maths or English, with groups made up of children in either Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) or Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). Sessions will be 1 hour long with group sizes no larger than 3 children at a rate of £10 per session per child. Children will need a pencil, paper and ideally a small whiteboard and pen. The first of these session beings next week, though you are free to book in on a week by week basis. Learning we're celebrating this week:  Well done to
